Felt is considered to be the oldest known textile, predating spinning and weaving. Wet felting is a technique that uses heat, pressure, and water to fuse sheep’s wool (or other animal fur) into a solid piece of fiber. Legend has it that the nomadic people of Asia used wool to line their sandals to prevent blisters and eventually it felted together. Throughout history, it has been used for clothing, blankets, hats, rugs, tents, and even boats.

Today, felt has evolved into an unique art form, that uses color, texture, and depth to create an amazing feeling of “aliveness” unmatched by any other medium.
